A Really Smart Toothbrush

Colgate_ProClinical_A1500_Electric_Toothbrush__53730.1361902412.1280.1280

I was at a talk by Colgate yesterday and heard about this for the first time. It looks incredible so I wanted to post about it!

  • It’s an electric toothbrush that has sensors that automatically adjusts the speed and direction of motion in your mouth – slow for gums, different direction for molars etc.
  • It has an LED display to show the angle the toothbrush is being held in your mouth.
  • It has a timer to ensure you’re brushing for the right amount of time.

This is the closest you’ll get to having a dentist in your house every morning telling you how to brush and for how long.

Whopping price tag: £164.99 but on sale online and on ebay

Confession: Max I’ve ever spent on a toothbrush is about $3! And I sneaked more than one free $3 samples from the talk I attended. #student

Xsories Beach bag with speakers! $29.99 . Can’t speak for the quality but I love the idea. Below is a Sporti waterproof phone cover I’m sure many will appreciate. You can operate a touchscreen phone through the cover and when you drop it in water, it floats! Now THAT is smart. $19.99 , probably cheaper on Amazon (https://cosmopolitech.com/quick-cosmo-tech-tips/)

You know how when you’re putting your phone or iPod away, and then reach for it, your earphones are a tangly mess. ZipBuds came up with a solution – zipper earphones. They’re tangle free and come in many fun colors. Easy, Fun, Genius !

Price: $13.99 – 19.99. Click on picture to take you to their website

FitBit Ultra

This is a pedometer on steroids! It’s tiny, as big as a bluetooth device. It tracks your fitness metrics AND your sleep patterns! My sister had heard the hype and gave it to me as a motivational present – best present ever. Completely worth the steep $99.95 price tag (even better since it was HER 100 bucks).

I’m going to try and and be as organized as possible to sum up it’s best features. As with all my posts, clicking on the picture takes you to the website, where you can learn much more in detail.

Fitness:
You clip it on to your jeans or the inside of your shirt, and you’re all set. It will track the number of steps you’ve taken, the number of miles you’ve traveled, the calories you’ve burned, the number of steps you’ve climbed, all available to you at anytime with the press of a button.

Sleep: At night, you put on the wristband it comes with and it tracks your sleep patterns and sleep efficiency – how well you sleep during the night, the motion sensor determines how many times you wake up during your sleep, and how long you actually slept. All this data is stored with an accurate time line on the website or the app. Last night I woke up at 3.02 am and fidgeted for a bit and only got a total sleep of 5 hours 47 minutes. On average my sleep efficiency is at about 93%.

Web/ App: So, once you set up Fitbit on your computer, you can leave the tiny docking station attached to your computer and as soon as you enter the house, it will automatically sync via bluetooth once you’re within 25 feet of your computer, and upload all your tracked data on to your online fitbit account! cool eh?

Food Tracker: you can enter in all the food you’re eating and it will calculate the no of calories you’ve consumed vs how much you’re burning throughout the day. It has a very comprehensive food database to be able to enter in what you eat.

Log and monitor all activities

Track your weight. You can enter fitness goals, weight loss goals and it will track how you’re doing and display motivational messages on your device!

WiFi Weighing Scale: For a little more dough ($129.95), you can buy the Fitbit Aria WIFI Weighing Scale to measure your weight, BMI, and fat % and it will wirelessly send the data to your fitbit account!

Okay, this post is officially too long and gushing. Just try it for yourself!

CHI TOUCHSCREEN HAIR DRYER

Welcome to the future of hair… well almost. CHI recently released a new hair dryer that requires no buttons to function. Instead, it has a touch screen that allows you to regulate the power, heat, and ions based on your hair type – Fine, Medium, Course. It cuts down on drying time, is lightweight, and is supposedly extremely quiet. It’s customizable ION settings help eliminate frizz, reduce static and rehydrates hair, according to CHI.

  • 1875 watts – CHI’s Most Powerful dryer yet = 50% less drying time
  • Lightweight ergonomic design weighs 40% less
  • New Soft Touch Rubber finish makes for the ultimate in styling comfort and non slip grip
  • Superior DC motor quietest CHI dryer ever
  • CHI Ceramic Heater and CHI Infrared Technology reduces static, eliminates frizz and rehydrates dry, damaged hair
  • Unique Memory Setting remembers the last setting
  • Touch Screen has 4 screens that give you a multitude of options for various types of hair. Home Screen; temperature, speed, & ions selection

I think it sounds like a great product and is definitely worth a try. The only thing I see that could go wrong is for someone that likes to frequently change settings in between their blow-dry. I would imagine it would be quite annoying to set it down and keep changing the options –  but worth a try.

I would personally use it with a ceramic round hair brush. The ceramic part of the brush heats up from the heat of the hair dryer and gets your hair straight and dry quicker. It also helps you play around with rounded ends, and curls without using a curling iron. I use Prego Spornette – clicking on the picture of the hairbrush takes you to the link from where I bought mine.

3 Favorite Apps on my phone right now

Cards App

The Cards app from Apple allows you to custom design cards with text and photos from your phone and they’ll mail it (actually post it not email), in a chic addressed envelope, to ANYWHERE in the world!

They have a bunch of pre-designed templates you can choose from and you design the inside and outside of the card, adding in your own photos and messages. This entire process could take as little as a minute to design and address your card.

It really couldn’t get easier. I love the utility – I love the price – I love how easy this is to use.

The app itself is free to download, and once you design your card it costs $2.99 to post anywhere in the U.S. and $4.99 internationally.

LiveNurse

This app by GreatCall gives you access to a live registered nurse 24/7, and a medical encyclopedia, and a symptom checker! Basically its great for hypochondriacs like myself.

The app’s key feature is the interactive symptom checker tool that helps to identify symptoms, possible causes and when to seek medical help and/ or if you can treat yourself and how. If you need additional help, you can tap and get direct access to a registered nurse. Genius!

They’re giving away a free 30 day trial right now and then the price is $3.99 per month. I haven’t yet gotten past my free trial so don’t know if they have any hidden costs, but I’m liking this idea so far.

PS: According to the app, I have a possible pollen allergy.

Crackle

Best App ever! Basically it gives you access to hundreds of FREE movies and TV shows on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch… whatever. You don’t need to sign up, or pay a dime. It works on 3G and Wifi and yes, these are FULL length movies and TV shows and they keep adding new content – they claim to add 20 new movies and TV shows monthly!!

Crackle is a division of Sony Entertainment, so this isn’t shady illegal content – it’s all legit, great quality stuff. I love putting on an episode of Seinfeld as I wait my turn at the doctor’s office or in line to get my chipotle – time goes by so much quicker! Its a great entertainment app – my phone wouldn’t be the same without it.

Price: Free. No additional costs for content.
